John Deskurakis leads cybersecurity at Daikin Applied, where he is working to transform enterprise, platform and product security into a unified connected model. He has previously served as a Chief Cybersecurity Officer for several HVAC manufacturers where he led architecture, governance, risk management, operations, advanced secure R&D, and tactical support for a wide range of multinational businesses and subsidiaries. Prior to that, he led secure research and development efforts targeting a range of complex defense programs at Raytheon, where he also served as a system architect, software engineer and an Advanced Studies Program scholar in the cybersecurity discipline. With multiple degrees, including a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from the University of South Florida, he is active in his community, academia, and serves at several trade organizations. He has served as the board chair of Security Industry Association's (SIA) Cybersecurity Advisory Board (CAB), a board member of the International Society of Automation's (ISA) Global Cybersecurity Alliance (GCA), a board member of the ISA Security Compliance Institute (ISCI), a board member of the Real Estate Cybersecurity Consortium (RECC), and a technical panelist for the UL-2900-1 Standard for Software Cybersecurity for Network-Connectable Products.
